Hugo's Cellar offers a comfortable atmosphere, very good service and terrific food, making it a tremendous overall value. As a nice touch to begin the evening, the ladies each get a red rose. Entrees all include a custom-built salad from the extensive salad cart, constant refills of bottled water, a tiny lemon sorbet between courses, and white and dark chocolate dipped fruits for dessert. Our party of three had the Dover sole bon-femme (rated the best sole ever eaten by that diner), the chicken Hugo (served with a delicious cream sauce with pine nuts) and the sea scallops (also delicious). Those three dishes ranged from $26 to $31, which I think is really very reasonable for what is included. Another nice touch is that when we asked for pate as an appetizer (not knowing that Hugo's serves it at the bar for waiting patrons), we were not charged for it. (That did explain the waiter's bemused expression when we ordered it, though.) We highly recommend Hugo's for a delicious, leisurely dinner. We just wandered in and had a short 10-minute wait at 7 PM on a Wednesday evening, but I think reservations would definitely be needed on most nights.
